Overview:
This is a permanent position
Start date: September 2025 (exact date TBD)
Hours: 35-40 hours/week
Anticipated schedule: Sunday-Thursday
Shift start time: Shifts begin as early as 4am
Shifts are typically 8 hours/day, 5 days/week
Extended medical & dental benefits are available to full time employees after 3 months of employment
Starting wage: $22/hour + paid breaks, paid sick days, store discount
Please Note: Bread by Us is in the process of planning a move to 126-130 Smirle Avenue. This is a very exciting but challenging time for us. As a bread baker, you would be taking on the following responsibilities:
Executing the production of bread from mixing all the way through to baking. This includes: reading and following recipes precisely, having a knowledge of baking techniques, using kitchen equipment such as ovens and mixers.
Ensuring product quality and consistency; the baker is expected to develop an understanding of the quality standards that have been established at our workplace.
Working closely with other departments team to ensure production is on schedule, meets quality standards, and that orders are filled appropriately. Our service team relies on the broad knowledge and expertise of the baking staff, and so trained bakers are expected to have a solid understanding of our products, processes, and capabilities.
Maintaining a clean work environment. The kitchen team is collectively responsible for all aspects of cleaning, including: dishwashing, sanitizing, sweeping and mopping, and cleaning equipment.
The ideal candidate for this position:
Has at least 1 year of experience working as a bread baker
Has strong communication skills; you will be working alongside other bakers most of the time.
Enjoys an environment that compels you to constantly learn and tinker
Enjoys routine and repetition

Lifting up to 25kg at a time
Working in a warm environment
Repetitive motion
Working with potentially hazardous equipment
Squatting, bending
Working with a time-sensitive production schedule
Complex multi-tasking
The following training certification is required for this position, and must be completed by the time of hiring:
Food Handlers Certification
WHMIS 2015
